One of the major challenges before the Government of India (GoI) and State governments is agriculture and rural development as nearly 60% of rural population still dependent on agriculture and allied activities of their livelihoods. For rural people agriculture is a “way of life” which needs to be transformed to an “enterprise”. So as to earn a decent income and livelihoods. Requirement of trained man power/ human resources to conduct research and educate the rural people in general and farmers in particular.
The state Agricultural University “ANGRAU” in the state of AP is striving hard towards the said purpose by training the human resources. However, the constituent agricultural colleges of ANGRAU are not sufficient to produce enough man power. Hence, the government of newly formed state of AP has taken a decision to establish private agricultural colleges affiliated to ANGRAU. The SBVR Agricultural College is one of the Six private colleges affiliated to ANGRAU situated at Badvel in Kadapa (dist.) AP under the agies of Badvel & Sidhout Higher Education Committee during the year 2016-17 with mandate to train the required human resource to assist the government of AP to achieve its agricultural production targets by transforming agriculture from a way of life to an enterprise. The Act through which our college is affiliated is given in an amended Act by Andhra Pradesh government on 2nd July, 2017 and issued dated 4th July, 2017 i.e., after one year of the start of the programme (The Hon’ble Governor of bifurcated A.P. Sri. Narasimhan Garu promulgated an ordinance) the amendment to the original APAU/ANGRAU Act 1964).
