Biochemistry & Biotechnology Profile
Department of Biochemistry was established in year 2016 with the inception of college. The deportment offering courses for B.Sc. (Hons) Ag such as BICM 301 and ELCT 425. Biochemistry department is focused on teaching and demonstrate new ways of understanding metabolic process and physiological alteration in the plant. It helps one understand the actual chemical concepts of biology, biochemical changes occur in plant and formation of secondary metabolites in plant. The lab has all necessary equipments for conduct practical for UG students like Spectrophometer, water bath, Paper chromatography, pH meters, Magnetic stirrer, weighing balances etc. As a part of biotechnology, students get knowledge on plant tissue culture methods, recombinant DNA technology, plant transformation methods including Agrobacterium mediated transformation for crop improvement, PCR techniques like RAPD, RFLP and its applications and biotechnology regulations.
