Agril.Economics Profile

The Department of Entomology came into existence in 2017 as one of the five major divisions of the SBVR Agricultural College (Affiliated to Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University, with ICAR accreditation as of 2023), located at Badvel, Kadapa, Andhra Pradesh.

Agricultural economics is a branch of economics that integrates agricultural practices with economic principles to analyze and enhance the economic performance of agricultural production and distribution. It covers both micro-level decisions made by individual farmers and macro-level trends in global agricultural markets. The field focuses on improving efficiency, sustainability, and overall economic well-being in agriculture. It examines key factors which include land and labor use, input costs, and technological advancements. It helps to optimize resource allocation and production processes to increase output while reducing costs.

The Department of Agricultural Economics is dedicated to providing exceptional and comprehensive education in the field, with a strong emphasis on academic excellence and practical relevance. It aims to equip students with a deep understanding of economic principles as they apply to agriculture, thereby preparing them to address real-world challenges in agricultural production, resource use, marketing, and agribusiness management.

To achieve this, the department offers a diverse set of undergraduate courses aligned with the academic guidelines of Acharya N. G. Ranga Agricultural University. These courses include Fundamentals of Economics, Agricultural Finance and Cooperation, Agricultural Marketing, Farm Management, Production and Resource Economics, and Agribusiness Management. The department is supported by a well-stocked collection of reference books available in the college library and is equipped with a modern laboratory featuring internet connectivity.
